Justin was born in Hexham, Northumberland on 23 June 1970.  He spent his childhood in North Yorkshire and after attending University in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne joined the Royal Marines in 1992.

Justin discovered his passion for painting in late 1999 during a period of illness.  He now lives in Bellingham, Northumberland with his wife and 2 children.

In his paintings Justin tries to capture atmosphere and movement, paying particular attention to the light and climatic conditions so often associated with barren countryside.  He paints in a free and loose style with big brush work and uses his past experiences of the outdoors to try and reflect a real wild element to his pictures.  He wants his viewers to be able to feel the climate and imagine they're actually there.  

A member of both Hexham Art Club and Tynedale Artist Network, Justin is keen to develop his own painting and bring art to others.
